We attacked all areas of the field with the passing game from the short screens outside, TE's up the seam intermediate, to deep posts and go routes just to name a few basic things. Maybe you drank a bit too much while watching us in 2016 and don't remember what that offense looked like... Also 2016 was a much deeper team with guys like DJ being changes of paces guys and a much more consistent offensive line. I get that we're all excited about bell but this is just ridiculous to say we had more talent on offense. TYREE FREAKING MCCANTS was a role player in 2016, and he was more athletic that season than he was this season with his added weight. I'm excited for Bell's offense too but to suggest our current personnel is better and more athletic/explosive is just silly. Agree to disagree here...... Whoa, I beg 2 differ on the speed part of your post. Good margin? McDoom, Horne and Joiner look like they have 4.3 speed. St. Felix and Jernard Phillips look about 4.4 ish. At running back Cronkrite looks about 4.5ish and Ford looks like he could have sub 4.5 speed. I think this year's team might be faster all around. Hell i saw film of 3 of our walk ons and 2 of them had speed. WR Sean Atkins looks sub 4.5 and we got a 220 linebacker/DE that runs a 4.8 40yd named Camp Gobbler ( Goofy name but he hits hard) Im not saying our current team is more talented, but hell if they play to their potential then i feel they have a chance 2 be better.

Guest Jonesy Bull
Georgia Tech was supposed to run all over us as well (which they pretty much did) yet we still found a way to out score them and win. These early season games are very unpredictable.

Untilproven otherwise, I have zero confidence that he is a high level DC. There needs to be a huge jump on both sides of the ball for me to have any confidence in attaining a winning season. I think we have enough athletes and playmakers on offense that, hoping Bell can put together an offensive scheme , can show improvement on offense. Same leader on defense is a huge cause for concern. Agree 100 percent. I can't help but reflect back on the Gasparilla Bowl, when the defense literally quit in the game against Marshall. That defeatist attitude was a reflection on the defensive coaching. And the top two defensive coaches (Strong, BJM) are coming back. Attitude reflects leadership

If he improved out defense once, then why would u have no faith in him doing so again? You 4got that he took the defense from an 100th rank to 39 his first year. And I know it was with Senat and Bruce Hector, but those SAME players was 100th ranked the year b4.

Statistically the defense 2017 was better with a bunch of NFL caliber athletes and many 3 and 4 year starters, situationally that defense was still lost at key times. Anyone recall 4th and 24? What concerned me about last years defense was our guys were out of position so often and did not improve upon that issue . Until I see consisten improvement I have little confidence in the defensive coaching staff. My opinion is that BJM is a nice guy, loyal to Strong, maybe a good position coach, but is outmatched by accomplished OCs in this league and is a CUSA DC at best

He took those SAME guys and helped them become a 39th ranked defense. Thats over 60 spots. Those NFL caliber defensive players werent doing that great in 2016. He had 1 good year and 1 bad year. At least let the man break the tie this year.
