TAMPA, FEB. 26, 2019 – The USF men's basketball team puts the finishing touches on the month of February Wednesday at 7 p.m. when the Bulls welcome rival UCF to the Yuengling Center for the second installment of the War on I-4.

All fans are encouraged to wear white and the first 1,000 USF students in attendance will be given a rally towel and a pair of sunglasses. In addition, one lucky USF student will win a spring break getaway that includes a two-night stay at the Baha Mar resort in Nassau, Bahamas along with a $500 gift card courtesy of CenterState Bank toward travel accommodations. Free pizza courtesy of Papa John's will be provided in the Coca-Cola Student Lounge while supplies last.

USF (18-9, 7-7) has won four of its last five home games and owns a 14-3 record at the Yuengling Center. Sophomore guard David Collins (Youngstown, Ohio) leads the Bulls' offensive attack with 15.3 points per game and has featured nine games this season with at least 20 points. Collins has also made a team-high 139 free throws and already has the fifth-most in a single season in school history.

Success, character co-existing for USF men

TAMPA ― Cobwebs are forming, shingles are coming loose and the smell of mildew has grown prevalent, all of which stand to reason.

No one’s stepped foot in the place in months. Aside from one three-game suspension in December, the doghouse of USF men’s basketball coach Brian Gregory has remained vacant during this breakthrough season.

“You’re dealing with 18- to 22-year-old guys, but we’ve got good guys,” he said.

Even as the Bulls (18-9, 7-7 AAC) have emerged as one of the nation’s bona fide surprises, the noise they’ve made on the court has stood in inverse proportion to the amount created off it. Which is to say, success and high character are co-existing.

Wasn’t terribly long ago that neither existed in this program.

“Guys are gonna make some mistakes, now,” said Gregory, whose club tries to end a three-game conference skid in Wednesday night’s hyped home showdown against UCF (20-6, 10-4).

It does appear that Marketing is putting an all out press to get Students out to the game tonight, which is great.  I don't remember them ever having these type of giveaways when I was a student, although we use to get pretty good crowds in the late 80's early 90's.
