Harper and Machado Reportedly Still Looking to Top $300 Million

Will they get it?

I am in the no camp. I just don't think teams can justify putting that kind of capital into one player and I don't think they particularly like committing for ten years. Stanton cashed in when the time was right and I don't he or the Marlins felt like he would be there very long after signing that monstrous contract.

Are they still unsigned? Two of the top 20(?) baseball players.

I can see that happening, but I'm not sure if either of them want to be in the same market as Trout. i don't see him as the type to hold out for the most possible money and his market will be higher than theirs. They might want to go for two years.

Doesn't Trout's contract include the 2020 season?

The days of the multi mil/10 year baseball contracts are over.  While players may WANT what guys like A-rod and Pujols got in the past, analytics and other details have caused teams to pay for the player now and not what he will be.  Those Pujols and A-ROD deals were so lopsided based on production.

Guys like Harper and Machado might get 30 mil/year, but maybe no more than a 4-5 year contract.
