You need to travel the world more.

Probably the most anti-Tampa statement I have ever read. This description could be substituted for any parade,  Bucs game, Lightning game, etc. Gasparilla is not just a parade, its a celebration of the city's heritage and marked by a parade in the middle of the day down one of the world's truly beautiful waterfront streets. I cannot even imagine having such a negative take on something that Tampa should wear as a badge of honor. It's one thing to not like to drink and avoid the area because the celebration isn't for you...it's another thing to call one of the best know traditions a 'blight on the city' and saying you are not proud of the celebration. This is something I expect to hear out of Puc or a UCF fan. I am truly offended.

You do know that it was all made up, right?

I have interest.

I wanted to share an idea, since the OP mentioned that the Krew would benefit USF and youth sports.....

One idea would be to fund "scholarships" for low income, at risk kids to attend a one of the USF Athletic's coaches summer camp (based on the kids preference). This would allow the Krew to support the community, support youth sports, support low income kids to give them healthy activities and support USF all at the same time.

Next thing you're going to tell me is that the watch tower on the Hillsborough River wasn't to spot pirates!

That's just silly. It wasn't for pirates. They can't sail that far in river. It was to spot Vikings.

Great idea.   I would think we would need to recruit a minimum of 50 member and not getting much interest on it here.   I may be attending the Green and Gold Ball, maybe I can get some interest from people there.

Sometime ago, I heard that a pirate ship made it’s way partway up river during a hurricane when it was blown off course and wound up near what is now the intersection of N Himes Avenue, and W Ohio Ave.

The stumbling block is the $1 million dollar liability insurance and the costs for a professionally built float.

A $1 million dollar policy shouldn't be too much.  The float, on the other hand, could be expensive.  You could buy a big trailer and build something yourself.  Then you need a truck to tow it.
