CSH led us to victory over a CDS led Clemson Tiger team in the Meineke Car Care Bowl? That literally feels like an entire lifetime ago and almost seems unfathomable given the directions we went from there.

That crossed my mind as I was watching the game tonight. Not even sure that would have been considered a quality win at the time (Clemson was 6-6).

I will gladly take a 2 for 1 with Clemson if they want a rematch.

Just because we own the series doesn’t mean we should exploit them, I would settle for a 1 and 1.

At this point I feel we can be pretty liberal when defining quality wins.

Might be a good idea to quit while we're ahead in this case. We should stick with the Georgia Techs of the World for now.

I feel this thread (read puc86) should have taught us that today’s Georgia Tech can be tomorrows Clemson.

There was a time when we had a "anyone, anywhere, anytime" attitude. That worked for us back in the day, and we were actually able to beat #5 WVU, #17 Auburn, #18 (or something like that) Kansas. I'd be happy just to beat anyone with a winning record at this point. They could make Clemson 40 point favorites over us, and they'd easily cover if they wanted to. No thanks on a 1 & 1 with them. That would be a ridiculous mismatch. Will be interesting to see what happens vs. Wisconsin early 2019

we beat a 6-6 Clemson team... we were 7-5 going into that game... hardly a great season.

I remember people on the message boards making it sound like it was impossible to score on that Clemson team. D'Quan Bowers this, D'Quan Bowers that. They were average at best that year, and we carved that defense to pieces. We beat an average Clemson and a below average Miami team that year. Also beat Charlie's Louisville team.

I'd put Leavitt & Taggart as #1 & #2 here, but it's strange that Strong & Holtz were the only coaches we've had to win a conference, and both did it at least twice i believe. Holtz was such crap here for the most part that it's amazing to think that dude won any conference ever.

I went to that game. I cheered and celebrated the win.  I thought we under achieved that year.  We did gash them and our defense played pretty good for 3 1/2 quarters.  They made the score look more respectable than it actually was.  I think Bowers played that game on a knee he ended up have ACL reconstructive surgery on... he never seemed to recover from that... oh well, sucks to suck.  I'm of the mind Charlie will have a lot of success at USF.  I think he has a big year next year and when Battles is ready, I think we'll be in for a show.

I don't rule out Charlie being successful here, but it will hinge on his OC selection IMO. I'm also hoping that Battle or McCloud pans out. Haven't seen either of them yet. Wondering if either will push BB in camp.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
