Why is OC hiring taking so long?

I would agree and that's something that needs to be negotiated because there may be position coaches that the head coach likes.

I am thinking that King is one hell of a recruiter, if CCS let's him go that would not be good.

So how does it normally work when a HC cans an OC?  I never paid attention.  It’s logical to me an OC would want to bring in his own staff. I would.

Coaches are naturally going to try and bring in their buddies due to the networking involved in the space. This situation is a bit unique as Kerwin has been a HC at his last 2 stops and brought some assistants with him during the transition. A typical coordinator promotion might include a GA or single position coach coming along, but with him as a HC, he has an entire staff underneath him. The fact that some of his asstants moved from JU to Valdosta with him indicates they might be along for the ride.

By all accounts, he’s loyal to his guys (especially Kade) and I imagine he’s fighting tooth and nail for them to be included on his staff.

And I’m not talking about our situation.  Our OC left.  Under pressure, most likely.

But if you actually fire a coordinator, wouldn’t flush it all ?

Really just depends on the situation. If there is a position coach that has been around through multiple tenures (e.g. King) he will likely get the benefit of the doubt.

Relationship with the players and HC can also factor in.

I would be extremely disappointed if they let Shaun King go to make room for Kade Bell.  He’s only 25 years old with hardly no coaching experience.

I would think normally if the OC goes then the entire staff would go but the only one attached to Gilbert was Mattox.

So it appears CCS is trying to bring in an OC while trying to retain 3 Assistant Coaches from the previous Offensive Staff (Williams, King Burke). I know there are 2 Defensive Assistant Openings but I would think Bell is trying to bring in more than 3 guys since he was a HC as has been mentioned.

Other guys wanting to bring coaches with them is the perfect reason for CCS to end up with Burke.

Every day this drags on increases the likelihood Burke gets the job.

The guys on TDS said that it’s down to Bell, Gleeson and a 3rd candidate (not in house,)

So who will take what Charlie is offering and be constrained by Charlie’s boys.

This is not “big changes”.

I have a feeling Bell can read the writing on the wall.
