No, nothing is instantaneous, but CCS hasn't gotten our team in position to win football games. With the exception of the GT game (I will give full credit to CCS there, he beat a team that finished with a winning record, and it was a positive, exciting, generally well-called game)

Let's not forget that to win this game, we needed TWO kick-off returns for a touchdown and a lucky fumble recovery in the fourth quarter.  Not sure any of those were in CCS's game plan.

Excellent point...probably not a great game plan to count on two KO returns a game.

Fair enough but Terrence Horne was a guy CCS recruited and he actually played a role in the offensive game plan as well (caught a TD pass.) We won't take that away from Strong, he saw the talent, the talent came through.

Hope the injury does not slow him down

Just to give the mob pause for a moment. What do you really expect USF and AD Kelly to do at this point?

Personally, I would prefer he stop misleading and just say what we all already know. CCS gots us on the hook for a lot of money. Probably $7.8 million over 3 more seasons. We don't have that money to give all at one time and hire another staff. This is AD Harlan's fault and he got out of Dodge before anyone figured out what a mess he made.

That said, AD Kelly can't say that. He has to pretend he is just measured. So it is what it is.

Prepare for 4-8 to 8-5 the next 2-3 seasons. In the meantime, enjoy and watch the Men's Basketball team. Gregory is a lot of fun and he just says it like it is.

I'd accept that kind of transparency. Just announce "The previous AD gave our current head coach a 100% guaranteed contract." Once the contract is public we will not be happy with it but we'll understand the situation and maybe accept it.

I thought we passed that threshold 8 years ago when a disinterested, bumbling Skip Holtz was praised and ultimately extended because of a goofy smile and his huggability with the players.

The goose hath been slayed.

What are you talking about. A whole lot of teams showed interest in Skip and his losing record.

At least the press his agent talked to sure repeated that point.

Yes this is totally fraudulent..they put the extra contract $ into the USF Foundation which makes it very hard to track specific salary details. Total BS move

Pretty sure UT had a hand in this. They weren't going to give us a 2 year subsidized coach and I bet the guys they sent lobbied hard to Strong that they'd litigate what they considered a lowball contract from USF.

We're way too small on defense. Khalid McGee played his heart out, but he is too small to play linebacker. Nick Roberts? Too small. Jaymon Thomas? Too thin. So many missed tackles and when we did tackle, the pile was always moving forward. Nobody was sturdy enough to stand up a RB, TE or decent sized WR and stuff them or drive them back. No DLineman got a push. That's where this whole reclamation needs to start if we're going to clean this up. Charlie knows it. Can he do anything about it? We'll see.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
