I will wait and see who we hire as OC. The reality is that none of those 11 players were key contributors to the team. Salomon was the main loss and I’ll leave it at that. For those looking at recruiting rankings we have had higher ranked recruits in those positions in last year and this rear signings. By the way a kid like StFelix which did a great job had a lower ranking than most.

as a coach I had to cut loose some players that were very good but were not good for the team.

now with that said let’s see how next season goes, do we have players developing? We had many freshmen play this year are they improving?

cutting that many players certainly hurts depth. 3 d-linemen and 1 OL gone. seems like we struggled there this year.

I'm pretty sure you meant "position coach".  How many guys that have P5 OC jobs are going to take a cut in pay to come to USF?

A few will if they fill they won’t get a HC opportunity in the P5. There are only so many openings each year

They wouldn't be coming here for a HC job.  Maybe you are talking about CCS's replacement which isn't happening this year.

And yet none played and couldn’t beat out freshmen. What does that say? There is good depth and imaginary depth

actually they did play when they weren't suspended.

of course you probably thought getting rid of the 3 o-linemen last year wouldn't hurt us either.

you do know that our second leading returning receiver is gone along with a DT that had 24 tackles and a sack in 5 games he played in this year(he was suspended for the other 8 games). not to mention a sophomore 3 star DB(offers from sec schools) that had 19 tackles.

I'm not sure you even watch our games if you think none of them played.

Completely disagree...you are saying they will more than likely never beyond OC. Just doing a quick search I’ve found at least five P5 OCs who took head coaching positions at the G5 level.

We don't have a HC opening

True, I think something got lost in translation. My point is that if the program drops CCS I would hope they would replace him with a P5 OC which would be a different direction than a defensive minded coach.

Okay. I agree with that.  When I wrote my email to VPofA MK a month or so ago that is exactly what I told him my concern was.  If we don't fire the head coach then finding a P5 OC to come be our OC would be out of the question.  They would only come here for a HC job.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
