This is the only reason to give him something more. I think it is pretty certain that our new OC will be coming from a different program. At the end of the day there is no way King will be the OC.

I'm hoping they at least let him take over coaching the QBs as well as the Running backs. He has exceeded expectations as a position coach.

True. Also keep in mind that the assistant coaches get a pretty sweet pay raise next season. Money has never hurt.

Well see what Burke can do but I’ve got a felling we won’t see much of a difference next year in the offense as strong is going to force burke to be conservative. I believe king leaves in the offseason and I couldn’t blame him

How much faster could our offense had been than it was this season?

The weather may hurt both offenses in terms of what they want to do that is new or different.

He's not lying though.  This offense DID do some great things, how else would the "but but but the yardage" folks have had ammo to defend Gilbert for so long? The offense with Gilbert was very productive between the 20's.    Burke could take the bones of Gilbert's vanilla ass offense add some plays/packages that attack the edges, screens, passes to RBs and play action to middle of the field and this offense could really do some things.   As bad as Gilbert was in some facets of running an offense (and he was absolutely terrible in some ways) there are some good things to build on.  If he can add some imagination to this offense, balance where and how we attack defenses, and start being aggressive inside the red zone we can be fun to watch on offense again in pretty quick order.

Well, 30 teams ran more plays per game than we did this year and we ran 10 less plays per game than 2017.  So there's that.  We were also 49th in yards per play this yea, which was down from 2018 as well so some room for improvement there.

There is 129 teams in FBS so I think that puts us on the up tempo side. By a large margin at that.  Plus there is the argument that your offense can't run plays if your defense can't get off the field. Our defense ranked 82nd in third down conversion percentage.while being 63rd in 2017. That could account for some of those ten plays per game.

This just means we weren't that good, not how conservative or aggressive we were.

Conservatism can affect performance and production.  We dropped last year and while were are in the top 25th percentile, there's room for improvement
