I posted a link above and I want to know what some of the thoughts are on this. It basically says that this stunt that UCF AD is pulling calling out UF for their 2-1 game request and constantly putting P5 teams on blast about not playing them will backfire.

Says teams like USF and Houston are similar schools to UCF that when push comes to shove and there is expansion that UCF may not get the support of teams that matter because of their attitude.

We have proof that an AAC championship means nothing outside of the AAC.  We must take big teams on their terms.  Play anyone anywhere.  Beating a good P5 team puts us on the map more than an AAC title or a win in the Apathy Bowl.  It sure got us more national publicity than a conference title would have.  Big mistake by UCiF.

Like we used to say growing up, "Wow!  They really think who they are"!

if u want respect in the big boys club, u have to play the big boys.

going 25-0 playing one P5 patsy a season clearly isn't good enough to make the CFP.

the circular argument of the FCU crowd is never more apparent than the UF negotiations.

FCU: "we went undefeated two seasons in a row & didn't even get considered for CFP! we was robbed #nAsHuNaLcHaMpS"

RATIONAL PEOPLE: "u didn't play anybody. beating Maryland & Pitt over the span of 2 seasons isn't enough to be a CFP team"

FCU: "but better schools are scared to schedule us!!!"

GATORS: "we'll give u a 2-for-1"

FCU: "HOW DARE U!! we are NaShUNaL ChAmPS!!!"

GATORS: "well ok then." hangs up phone

FCU IN 2019 AFTER BEATING NOBODY OOC: "we was robbed!!"

USF has made the sacrifice by taking these 2-for1 deals. the likelihood may be slim, but in the event they ever run the table, playing/beating teams like BYU & GTech in the same season puts some meat on the bones of their schedule.

UCF beat Pitt 45-14....Pitt, who played in the ACC championship, and beat GT in the regular season. BYU went 6-6, and GT went 7-5. How does that put any more "meat on the bones" if we beat them? No telling what GT will look like with a new offense in 2019. Wisconsin will be a potential quality win though.

Unfortunately it's the world we live in.  3 total successful seasons doesn't earn UCF the respect they're wanting.  Teams like Florida and FSU have a much richer history and UCF isn't close to what they've established. It's great that UCF is making noise and gaining themselves attention but at what expense?  They're losing a lot more respect than gaining it, and a 2-1, if they're this "top ten program" that they're claiming to be (which they're not, they had a good top 10 season) should be seen as 3 wins to them.  2 road wins against a team like Florida would look great on paper.

2019 OOC games:

USF: Wisconsin, GT, BYU

Mickey Mouse School: FA&M, Pitt, FAU, Stanford.

Not sure who gets the edge.

2020: USF (Texas Nevada FAU) Mickey (UNC GT)

This will depend on how strong Texas is in two seasons.

From 2021-2025, Mickey plays one or two ACC teams a season. In that span, we have booked BYU, NC State x2, Texas x2, Florida x2 (until they dodge again), Louisville x2.

Long term advantage is us by miles.

Unfortunately, the, "play anyone, anywhere" philosophy doesn't work in today's college football climate.  With the vast number of teams willing to play, "pay" games for much less than we could afford to do.  It makes it really difficult.

PREACH IT!

I would go so far as to say, "Hey! You have an open date. We'll come to your house for a visit. Cover my expenses and you got a deal."
