As a HC

2016 – 45 pts per game (Brohm as head coach)

2017 – 25 pts per game (Sanford)

2018 – 21 pts per game (Sanford)

Knowing how Strong and most coaches like to surround themselves with people they’re comfortable with I’m guessing it will be someone who worked with Strong or someone who worked with someone that Strong respects a lot and will vouch for.

Dude.  You’re barking up,the wrong tree.  I’m not advocating for Sanford.  I’m just trying to get some dialogue going on who people think the OC should be.  We know you’re firmly in the King camp and if that’s who Strong wants to hitch his wagon to for his critical 3rd year then I’ll get behind it.  It’s his ass on the line not mine.

This is a dialogue right? I'm participating lol Anybody not named Shaun king that has experience will be a recently fired coach or a coach trying to get back on his feet. The other option will be somebody from Div 2 who had success and that person will be here for 1 year and then bolt on us if he has any type of success.

I think the main reason someone might bring up Mike Sanford Jr., is because Mike Sanford Sr. was also on his staff as a RB coach and both are available.

Mike Sanford Sr. was Strong's OC at Louisville in 2010 but was demoted for Shaun Watson in 2011.

Not sure what their relationship is like because Mike Sanford Sr. went to Utah State in 2012.

Shaun Watson is probably staying at Pitt.

Mike Sanford Sr. would fit that bill......

Let's see, we can:

1) Open the checkbook and try and get a high profile, established OC.

2) Gamble on someone with high upside, but no proven track record.

3) Hire a former OC who flamed out as a HC, like Kingsbury or Kiffin , who's coaching for his life.

4) End up with whoever's left when all the great OCs and anyone with major upside have all been snatched up.

Which one seems like the most USF thing to do?

Ill take Joe Kinnan in a heartbeat But from what I remember, in an interview he had I think he loooved being an advisor b/c he didn't have to do as much as a coach. It seems as if he is winding down the path of retirement.
