Any idea what kind of Offense King might run? He was on the staff when we were running the GCO. Not sure what that offense would look like with any of our QBs. Has he been around Spread offenses?

Who ever takes over as OC better have their **** together for this game:

Marshall is in the top 20 in the following defensive categories: rushing yards per game, sacks per game, tackles for loss per game, total defense, opponents third-down conversion percentage and scoring defense.

who have they played? what were the offensive rankings of their opponents?

Tommy Bowden & his QB coach Rich Rod ran the spread when he was at Tulane. it's kind of his thing.

I hope he transition back the spread/GCO, but will Charlie allow it? I hope Kelly had some deep and eye opening conversations with Charlie that his approach to offense isn't going to cut it another year.

true. but nobody is bragging on us, offensively or defensively. lol.

i'd say our new/acting OC is a wild card when trying to divine whether or not this team will put up points on Marshall's vaunted defense.

i'll look up their schedule later & check their opponents' offensive rankings. having a high ranked defense is nothing to shake a stick at, but it may also not be something to shake in our boots at either if they played a schedule full of low caliber offenses.

Well they are Cusa but I would say, sadly,  that we would have had a tough time beating some of those teams late in the year. I suspect that is why we are a three point dog in this one. MU’s Coach was on the defensive staff at UF (with CCS) during the NC run so he has to have some skills on that side of the ball.  Yes, I would be curious about their level of competition please post when you get a chance.

I have no qualms about being dogs. we don't deserve to be favored the way we played this season.

i don't think that was due to lack of talent, I think it was poor playcalling, game planning & overall coaching philosophy.

some of those things are going to change as a natural consequence of Stilbert's departure, so that element of uncertainty for Marshall could play to our advantage.

i certainly think we have the athletic talent to beat Marshall. this is on coaching.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
