Listen, I’m a Shaun King guy. But it’s much more practical for people to think he could be a Raymond Woodie level Coordinator rather than the next coming of Scott Frost. Woodie actually has more “coaching” experience than Shaun King. Again, I want Shaun King to be our version of Frost and end up with the HC gig, but let’s not use an exception as the rule

Agreed.  I’m also a big Shaun King fan but something else to consider is that Frost coached under Chip Kelly and Mark Helfrich as a WR coach and an OC.  Not sure if you can consider King coaching under xCWT and Gilbert as the same type of experience.

Taggart, Kinan, Hope, and learned Gilberts offense. Player under Tommy Bowden. in a spread offense. Served as an analyst for the NFL in addition to playing for 7 years.  This guy been coaching since 2006...that's 12 years!!!! WTF do you mean? Frost spent 4 years as a wide receivers coach and then became a OC. Shaun king coached QBs and QF had his greatest year ever! coach running backs and had **** near (3) 3000 rushers his firs tyear and (2) 1000 rushers his 2nd year. He is the ONLY position coach that delivered every year since he has been here. Everybody here is praising Taggart's gulf coast offense and King was a big part of that success. Now that we need an OC, people are questioning him? It always seems that certain type of coaches are held under much more scrutiny then others.

What if the argument was made that you seem to like a certain type of coach with little actual scrutiny of them or their ability? Is there a chance that King can be a great OC? Sure. Is it probable given his current resume? Surely not. He is an unknown gamble that you are wrongly assuming is a home run hire based on a false assumption that unknown potential will always manifest into positive results when the opposite is typically true.

Take a look at Raymond Woodie or heck, for that matter, Sterlin Gilbert’s resume and see whose is more impressive. 12 years isn’t that long in coaching when 9 of them were as a position coach at the HS & 7on7 level. Again, I’m not saying he can’t or won’t be a successful playcaller, but this isn’t a certainty. The bowl game offers him a great opportunity.

I never said he was guaranteed to have success. My argument is what makes him less qualified than anybody else to be promoted to OC? Below is Scott frost's path. He also coached High School football too in which he called plays.

No way of knowing if SK is the next Scott Frost or Raymond Woodie or if he falls somewhere in between.  I guess CCS will have to decide who he wants to roll with next year.  An unproven but  known commodity on his own staff or find someone from the outside with a proven successful track record as an OC.  His fate at USF may rest on this decision.

That he is coaching on a staff the fans see as unsuccessful and it is believed that CCS needs to have success yesterday so he may not have the luxury of gambling if he has any desire to continue his coaching career.

He is a gamble, just like Scott Frost was a gamble. But one thing he has compared to somebody we hire outside of the organization is FAMILIARITY of the players. There is no learning curve. He knows what all of the offensive players we currently can do.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
