Sterlin Gilbert will be the next McNeese State head coach, sources told FootballScoop on Wednesday barring any unforeseen issues.

They reported Andersen to Utah State with same type disclaimer and he didn't end up getting job so have guarded hopes at least ....

By unforseen issues, I take it that doesn't include being a terrible oc, average recruiter or having the personality of a snail??

The bold would be on the hook for buyout $$$.  Only fortune there is for Gilbert.   Generalities are nice, using exact circumstances are better.

Except.... what if no one hires him which was equally probable. Then do you pull the trigger based on other’s inaction? At what point is it calculated safe to freely act as you don’t believe anyone will be acting for you? Does that not limit your options moving forward?

Today is my birthday.

If this is true, it's a fairly decent present.

I'm still dubious about Charlie though. I'll have to see changes on the field to be convinced.

Or McNeese admins reading TBP and realizing they shouldn't hire him.

Like CCS coming to us from Texas?

as a saints fan, the best thing that ever happened to us was San Diego chargers giving up on Drew Brees and the Dolphins choosing Dante Culpepper over Brees. So yes, this cliche holds true. CCS is built his career around Florida players. He is right where he needs to be.

Then he needs to recruit better linemen for both the offense and defense.   It starts there and that is where we were weak.

Dearly beloved, we have gathered here today, to get through this thing called life.

A little bit before that Prince but with an equal flair for drama.

You're backtracking now .... pal

I am not.  USF was planning to ax him after the signing period CCS did a professional courtesy and let him know he should be "Looking for advancement/other opportunities".    I trust where I got this info.   You're just saying what you think.   USF was not going to intentionally hurt itself on the trail and CCS wanted to do right by one of his guys.  There is no backtrack here.   USF was not going to FIRE him before the period as that only causes issues.  They gave Gilbert the opportunity to choose his fate with no guarantee he would find another job.   USF was NEVER going to fire him before the signing period....  But please, carry on.

No one before or after can equal that Prince when it comes to flair.
