So it’s not the last game of the last games? That would have been a nice qualifier to have had in advance.

Well the season we are comparing it to hasn't had a bowl game yet so it's not really complete. If strong wins that its five out of seven and now we are trying to compare if three out of seven is really all that much better than five out of seven when both seasons have 5 losses. Both end the same way.

You could also point out his 8-8 CUSA record and 25-26 big east record. I know you will point out that that its the big east versus the AAA but I can't pretend that the big east was all that much better, it was kicked out by the big boys for a reason and only one of the teams that joined the P5 has been successful since. I mean I'm not trying to dog on CJL but I just don't think his tenure here was all that much better outside of two weeks in 07

When everyone that left the Big East left to go to the P5 and was replaced by teams from conferences below us (that were not considered by the P5 conferences) it’s not pretending the Big East was better than the AAC, it’s indisputable.

Except the math still works out that the record will be worse and that CJL never once lost 4 in a row much less 5 in a row and not against this cupcake conference that is the worst we have had the misfortune of being in.

5 losses is 5 losses and all of the came in the second half of the season. that fact that one season was five in a row is irrelevant.

Leavitt coached here until 2009. He might have been fired in 2010 but he wasn’t the coach for the 2010 season.

Conference USA was a far better conference when we were in it. Also it’s widely believed we strategically did not compete in 2004 which is when most of that record tanked. Our record against CUSA all time under his guidance is more telling.

5 losses are five losses what part of the schedule they came in is equally irrelevant except that it fits your argument better than the in a row distinction.

The only reason I even included the second half of the season part was because of the original point. CJL's teams were notorious for second half collapses just as this team had a second half collapse. The fact that this team  lasted a little longer into the season before collapsing and losing all five in a row is irrelevant because I don't think the one or two wins CJL managed in the second half of seasons really did anything.
