The teams meeting Friday beat both the ACC Coastal champion (Pittsburgh) and runner-up (Georgia Tech) this season. The teams combined for 91 points and 1,186 yards in last season’s epic clash won by UCF (49-42). Ranked No. 8/9, UCF is the highest ranked opponent to take the field at Raymond James Stadium since the Bulls lost to No. 4 Florida State, 30-17, in 2012. A victory would mark the highest ranked foe defeated at home since No. 11/13 Kansas (37-34) in 2008. USF downed No. 5 West Virginia (21-13) in 2007 for the last top 10 foe beaten and highest ranked ever beaten at home, one of two top 10 ranked FBS foes beaten at home. WAR ON I-4: The War on I-4 resumes as part of a department wide sports series between USF and UCF, schools separated by approximately 100 miles of Florida Interstate 4. The War on I-4 all-sports series began in 2016 and has been won by UCF the last two years. The Knights currently lead the 2018-19 series, 15-6. The football teams play for the War on I-4 trophy unveiled in 2016. USF leads the football series, 6-3, and has won two of the last three meetings. This marks the fifth time at least one team has entered ranked and the third straight two bowl eligible teams will meet. SENIOR DAY: USF will honor 18 seniors that have been a part of the most successful era in program history, including a record 36 wins in the last four seasons. The Bulls have qualified for four straight bowl games, won two bowls games over Power 6 opponents, been ranked in the Top 25 for a program record 20 straight weeks and during three straight seasons, posted the first two 10-win seasons in program history, and won 20 of their last 24 games in Raymond James Stadium.
