he had a top 20 offense at oregon (that was designed to run a spread) even though they lost their QB for the better part of the year. They were top 10 before he went down.

Quinton Flowers was not recruited as a pocket passing QB that would run a prostyle offense.

of course his overall record looks average. that's what you hope for when rebuilding a program that's in tatters.

going from 2-10 to 10-2 means your record is .500 but it also means you did a fantastic job of rebuilding the program.

Okay if the Gulf Coast was some elaborate plan that CWT was building towards despite his words to the contrary and all of his actions leading up to its implementation, who did he have lined up to replace Flowers in it this season?

Him and his staff developed a pretty good line while at USF.   The same can't be said for the our current staff considering we have guys up front who looked very promising under the previous staff and played while they were young but their development has stagnated (Arguably regressed) under the new staff (Norman, Atterbury, Wiggs).....

I guess there is an argument to be made that the line had regressed under current coaching but as the line at FSU was far more highly rated I don’t see how that argument can be applied so inequitably.

I'm sure they would love to have a top 5 scoring offense . they haven't seen one since 2013

I’m sure they would too, maybe they should hire someone for that. That they have abandoned CWT as that person in year one while they sit at 108 in offense doesn’t make it seem likely that CWT and the Gulf Coast offense will be the ones bringing them there.

Read this article as it covers the FSU situation pretty in depth and how their offensive line was a dumpster fire due to departures, neglected recruiting, and bad player development.

Not quite as impressive with the top 20 offense at Oregon when you consider the year before they were 27th which got the head coach fired.

he completely reworked the offense. that's what successful people do when something isn't working. failures continue to do the same things over and over expecting things to change. he would have had 2 recruiting classes to figure out a replacement. or a grad transfer.

But in your opinion ours was perfectly strong except for the interference of the Strong regime?

So he would have either completely reworked the offense again or miraculously found a freshman phenom that could start right away and was unlike any of the QBs he was actually recruiting.

Replace Q? I don’t think we had another BJ waiting in the wings, but maybe he could’ve done a better job developing BK or CO? Who knows maybe he would’ve recruited someone to take over in a year or two. Also he knew the team and perhaps the lack of depth behind a talented core was why he jumped ship when his stock was hot

The only reason CWT is held in any regard is because he is our only coach that self selected his exit. Had he been fired in his first three seasons he would be viewed below CSH and had he still been here now he would be facing the exact same issues and backlash as CCS. That he smartly left during his one glory year does not somehow mean that he was an amazingly successful coach or that he would have continued the one year of success beyond last season at best. #cwtexposedparty.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
