What if we just ran a spread-based offense?

Wait, you mean like trying to get the ball to our fast, elusive athletes in space where they can run for TDs rather than run our 145 pound back between the tackles 20 times a game?

Nah, remember the coaching philosphy is he doesn’t like to score too fast. He made that clear in his introductory press conference.

Ha Ha

the veer and shoot offense is designed to use the pass to setup the run. passes are to be outside the numbers while the run is meant to be inside the tackles. think of all that unused space for both receivers and RBs. and apparently in Gilbert's version RBs aren't allowed to catch passes.

The way Gilbert runs it even the the least knowledgeable DC can contain the offense.

Seems the strategy is if you try it enough time one of the backs may break off one or two long ones a game.

With all the across the field, long 8 yard throws outside the numbers that Barnett makes, anyone with less of an arm would have about 10 pick sixes by now.

I don’t recall more than 2 seam patterns and not one post all year. Safeties don’t have to worry about the middle of the field.   Not saying our offense has to live their, but  a half dozen balls down the middle of the field or a few play fakes then throw to a tight end in the middle would at least keep the defense honest.

Do we have the offensive line to give those throws time to happen? Do we have the receivers who will go and get a contested ball(minus Tyre)?

and please try and get a RB the edge once in awhile. toss sweep? off tackle? anything on the edge.

Stop bringing in all these guys who have no idea how to utilize Florida athletes.

We've literally only ever seen success against a decent schedule with a spread offense. The end.

Any offensive coach interviewed here should need to talk about how they're going to get on the edges and use misdirection. If you talk about power, automatic veto.

All we do is run north/south and throw underneath routes to WRs who have to break tackles to advance up field.

This isn't rocket science.

I keep forgetting how many conference championships have we won with the spread formation and Florida athletes. In essence we need better Florida athletes...

We were a lot closer with that style of offense than we’ve ever been with this.
