FIRST YEAR BULLS MAKING IMPACT

The Bulls’ have recruited strong under Charlie Strong and young talent is already shining in 2018 with several true and redshirt freshmen from Strong’s first two classes figuring into prominent roles.

Redshirt freshman WR Randall St. Felix posted the best debut by a wide receiver in program history, grabbing seven receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown vs. Elon. The mark is tied for the ninth-best in program history. St. Felix’s first career reception was a 40-yard TD pass from Blake Barnett on the opening drive of 2018. St. Felix has two 100-yard receiving games on the season, also grabbing six passes for 120 yards vs. Illinois.

Redshirt freshman S Nick Roberts made his first career start vs. Illinois and posted seven tackles. He followed that with eight tackles and the game-ending interception in the win vs. ECU and led USF with 10 tackles at UMass. He is fourth on the team with 36 tackles.

Redshirt freshman S Mekhi LaPointe has started two games and led USF with 9 tackles and 2.0 TFL at Tulsa.

Freshman Tyrone Barber made his first career start vs. ECU and recorded his first career sack at Illinois and has two sacks on the year.

Freshman Donovan Jennings made his first career start at left tackle at UMass and helped lead USF to 365 yards rushing.

Freshman Johnny Ford is the Bulls’ second leading rusher and ran for two touchdowns and 77 yards at UMass.

Freshman Vincent Davis forced two fumbles on kickoffs at UMass and returned one 12 yards for a touchdown.

Redshirt freshman RB Duran Bell scored his first career touchdown in the win vs. Georgia Tech, dashing in from 14 yards out. He ran for 69 yards on 12 carries in his first career game.

He was named the American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after his 3 TD day and USF and conference record 264 kickoff return yards vs. Georgia Tech.

With that many young guys and first time starters, I can see why we've had some slow starts and played down.  They're getting better though, they're getting their footing and should be ready to make a move.  We indeed have a very bright future.

Exactly! And we've had guys moving in and out at different positions. Hopefully we are jelling and will play much better for 4 quarters.

Go BULLS !!!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
