Rest of the season

For all our hope for a conference championship and NY6 bowl we have to step back and look at what this team is.

New starters at QB, 2 RB, WR, 2 OL, 2 DT, DE, MLB, S, Nickel, P, K.

We’re replacing 14 of 24 starters. Are we really a team reloading as opposed to rebuilding? 

Throw in the freshman contributing at all levels which means a lack of meaningful contributors in the sophomore and junior classes and no one should be shocked if this team loses 3-4 games down the stretch. Tulsa included. Short week with back to back road games. Then tough road games at Houston, Cincinnati and Temple. Finishing with the tinmen at home. I think we can win every game left but I would not be surprised to lose a few either. 

If somehow this team wins the conference Charlie would have done a great coaching job. 

None of the above will stop me from yelling at TV and demanding Sterling Gilbert be fired every game.

Maybe it will end up that way. However, the one positive is that despite all the changes they have found ways to win. Albeit ugly.  I do think the team is mentally tough.

That’s cause for hope of another double digit win season.

I certainly wasn’t implying that. Just noting that if we end 9-3/10-2 that maybe at the end of the day that was the absolute high end for this team.

I think people are setting mental expectations so that if we lose going forward it will be ok. People, including myself are mentally drained from the 4th quarter nailbitters. It would be nice to catch a mental break while watching our Bulls dominate another team for the entire game. We know it’s possible and the potential is there...that’s what makes it so stressful to watch.

I had us at 9-3 to start the year and I still have us there with what I've seen so far

You must have missed our 20-13 win over ECU, or our last second win over perennial powerhouse Illinois. We held UMass to a mere 42 points. All indications are that this team is totally a playoff contender.
