That’s very cool to hear!

the stats on this game are so strange---

I mean coming into this season, I thought our run defense was the weak point. Elon must have one hell of a rushing attack or we have just been playing teams that are pass happy.

Ugly game with flashes of fun plays. Cronkrite had an incredible game. I understand why these scores/yardage are getting some people upset but I also get why CCS is trying to get his younger players playing time whenever possible. That type of approach may not make us look great to those focused on style points or whatever-- but I can see this helping us out in the long run. You have to play  to get the experience you need when it matters. You also want to protect key players when possible. Once we hit 58 points or even earlier-- the game was clearly ours. Getting upset about "letting" a team like UMass rack up late scores and yardage in spite of why it is happening ignores that trade off. Some of our best players from the 2007 and 2008 squad got tons of time playing as true freshmen (Mike Jenkins definitely did). It is essentially to building a strong program. I look at this game with the same weight as you might a strong FCS opponent -- and we all know the point of those games is to get a nice lead and then get our young guys as much playing time as possible.

anyway--- we got our W, we covered the line, and honestly no one really is looking at this game on our schedule and worrying about scores or yardage other than our own fans.

Say what you want about how this team is going to lose 3 games or whatever. After last season, most of us were realistic and thinking that we were going to be rebuilding this season and that 4 losses were reasonable. At this point-- I think we have the potential towin out-- especially if we can get more time for our backups. Depth is what the best teams excel at-- and has always been one of our problem areas.  I say potential but I am ok if we lose a couple of games. It won't be the end of the world and until it actually happens- maybe we should throw on some green and gold glasses and try to enjoy a win.

I agree about getting the future players time. We don't just play one game at a time, we play for a multi-year future so though I don't like UMASS creeping back into contention in garbage time I understand the necessity of reps for the future starters. That's a good thing. I was actually hoping for nearly and entire half of Kean and O figuring we should have had it out of hand by half time.

The first half though. That's not anything I can understand. Or the penalties or all the other problems week in and week out.

true-- our consistently slow/sloppy starts are unnerving and annoying. I can't explain them and I am not sold that this is a coaching issue as much as it is bringing the full effort all the time. And we should also not overlook that the other teams we are playing are trying to win as well. They are a factor that too many fans overlook. I hope we get it straightened out before this bites us on the arse.

Did they cheer before or after the “former gator” part?

Wanted to mention that as well but didn't know which topic would be appropriate.  Some tool in the suite next to us (the Panther's box) said "Who's that?"  Wanted to turn around and say something but then realized best to just ignore him.

Honestly, I saw the graphic and just heard Cronkrite's name mentioned and that was it. We must have had a ton of USF coeds in the rows behind us that were loud, in a shrill type way, almost the whole game and it got louder with that announcement, and heard a "Go Bulls!" My hearing is just now about back to normal ...... my normal, anyway.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
