My, "Brilliant, but will never happen conference realignment idea"

Have six, 18 team conferences.  In football, you would play every team in your division, two from the opposing division in your conference, and two from another conference.

For the conference championship, you obviously would play the winner of the other division in your conference.

Have an eight team playoff, with all of the conference winners and two wild-cards

This effectively gives you a 16-team playoff

So now 108 teams have access to the playoffs and money!? That is complete ********. The number of teams I believe should have access is exactly 66.

Everything sounds good except go to an 8 team playoff with 6 conference champs and 2 wild cards.  Essentially playoffs start with conference championship games

You could go with 6 and the top two seeds get a first round bye

You could, but I like the Wild Card idea and conference champs should be rewarded

Sorry, I misread your fist post.  I agree and fixed my typo my original post.

I would also add that FCS teams cannot be part of the 12 game schedule.  If a team wants to play an FCS team they would have to apply for an exception to have a 13 game schedule and play the FCS team in Week 0.

College football needs a relegation system if that were to go into place. Drop the teams at the bottom and bring up fresh blood from the mids.
