I've been checking in all week and maybe its because we beat them pretty good last year, but they have been really reasonable fans.

They have had a rough go of it since, I don't know, the zook years? Haven't seen much hate out of them and I just wanted to appreciate that they have some respect. I haven't seen many communter school remarks and the like, mostly just that they aren't there yet and hope to keep it close.

So, Illini fans, thanks and good luck tomorrow!

Most of their conversations that I have seen has been about their suspended players. They don’t think they can do much without them and they don’t know when their suspensions will be up.

Word is the players are still suspended but we won’t know for sure until kick off

I think the fans consensus is that most of those players will not be playing. Some feel Lovie is using that as a culture change type of enforcement, others consider it a way to blame a loss on suspended players. I think it is culture myself- but either way, I can't see more than two of the players playing if any.

To be clear when people here are saying culture shift they mean head coaching change, right? Kind of late in the ballgame to be trying to change culture if you aren’t going to be there to see it thru. This sounds very CSH, focus on winning first or you won’t be around to see any changes.

A lot of them seem to think we were better last year. I don’t think I agree with that, I think we are better coached and have more talent/stability across the board on offense this year.

They seem convinced that we are much less ready at the QB spot. That leads me to believe they have not watched the games closely. Comments to the effect of considering BB no where near as good as QF are sort of odd. Not to worry-- the game will give them a good idea what he can do-- when they see him zip that ball with great accuracy and a fluid motion-- they might rethink that position. The area where we might be less strong compared to last season is probably on defense- the run defense specifically. Some did notice that.

Not that it matters-- the Illinois coaches have no doubt watched every bit of film on the current starters they can find and can see what this team can do. That is the thing with reading message boards-- the fans can be all over the map in terms of knowing the opponent. But they aren't coaching the team so it is more or less about whether they respect us (which is also a non-factor to the actual game).
