This has me trying to come up with Taggart's best win in his time here. He did beat a ranked Temple team. Can anyone think of a better win? BTW, You can argue that Taggart beating a ranked Temple team was a bigger deal than our win over GT this past week, although I don't necessarily feel that way. GT was unranked, and if I'm not mistaken, they didn't have any votes at all in the AP Top 25...

His best wins were Navy and Temple and if your best wins are in the AAC you have no big wins. But my point isn’t necessarily that this is the best team we have won against ( sadly it maybe) but that we came from a 10 pt 4th quarter deficit to win by 11, I can’t remember the last time we looked to be spiraling and then turned it back around to not just win but win sizably. I think gameday coaching played a role in this accomplishment and even the people that think it’s ridiculous can’t come up with a single example from our previous regime.

Facts, I think that’s crux of my argument.

Someone in another thread did the legwork for me on this when I mentioned that the next xCWT win over a ranked team will be his first. Temple and Navy were both ranked when we played them and won.

I didn't realize Navy was ranked when we beat them

Yup, and we are still broke, even if we get a raise.

TheGreatOutlaw gave his reason in the quote (natural rivalry), which I agree with. I hate UCF more than most, but bitter rivalries are what college football is SUPPOSED to be about. UF/UGA, Ala/Aub, UM/OSU, USC/UCLA, all these schools hate the other, but it's amazing when they play. In terms of why it makes sense for any conference to take both, $$ TV ratings (last years game was huge ratings), Orlando/Tampa tv markets and a travel partner. In addition, the Big 12 have 10 teams, I doubt they expand by only one team. Also, what is the instant appeal about playing Big 12 teams that we don't have any history with, the only one we would have is WVU (which would be amazing to rekindle that); so it would be nice to have a few teams we have history with (UCF and Cincy).

Thank you for understanding my point that conferences want to bring in a marketable and proven rivalry . I don't care for UCF but it adds to our case.

Even if he has 3 double digit winning seasons here? and possibly a conference championship or two in a 3 year time span?

Look, I think Charlie is beyond qualified to coach at UF. In my heart, I just feel they don't want him. I have my personal reasons why I feel they don't want him back then or now, but I feel a bias towards his age will be the last reason they don't want him. It works out better for USF b/c I feel that is the ONLY school he would leave us for.

No teams have been brought in as a package deal to date, so if it happens it would be the first time. There is no reason to think we are better off together outside of wild conjecture.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
