Hi Guest,

In our efforts to raise funds for USF Football, the site is giving away a football season full of ad-free surfing at The Bulls Pen.

Would you consider buying a ticket or two to the raffle that will award this to you or a fellow member of the board?

Each ticket purchase goes directly to our effort to raise $10K in "fan money" for the program.  Below is the link:

This week’s American honors

Recommended Posts

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK?

Barnett accounted for four TDs.

What did last week’s winner, Mickey Milton, do against that small time opponent?

Was there a better offensive effort?

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK?

Probably Ed Oliver.  But Nico’s fumble recovery and INT were KEY to win.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK?

Sound the Horne!

If horn doesn't win the whole system is a farce.

Nico might get a  look but Oliver is just that hard to ignore.

Barnett played great. I would love to see him win. Milton threw three picks against a walk over opponent. I talked about this in a another thread, but this offense is going to ask him to do things he's not used to. Outside of the laughable UCONN, he might have a let down year in the passing game compared to last season.

"Milton struggled and threw three interceptions in the first half. He was 21 of 39 for 243 yards with a touchdown pass to Gabriel Davis in the third quarter."

They usually spread these around. No way Nico even gets a look.

More concerned with Blake’s chances, did anyone have greater impact?

Memphis's RB might get the nod with 212 yards on 13 carries and 3 TDs. He might be penalized because of the loss but probably earned the honors over Barnett with a rushing stat line like that.

Two turnovers will get you a look. I don't think he win it, but I guarantee his name would be mentioned in the conversation. How many other defenders in the AAC had two turnovers this week?

Houston QB had 6 total TD's (4 passing, 2 rushing). He will probably get offense

But what about the other 85% of the time the RBs were running by him???

These awards are about numbers and "getting run by" isn't a stat, because its hard to prove what his gap assignment is on a given down. Now lack of tackles is a knock on him, but the only other person with two turnovers only had 6 tackles to his 5. Turnovers are game changers and they typically get held in pretty high regard when selecting players of the week.

With that said, I think the Houston guy gets that with his two with tow picks. But someone will say "hey look at the Sawtell guy."
