Quote Hello, My name is ***** ***********. I am the Executor of Scott “Charlie” Sibbald’s estate. I am also his nephew. On Saturday September 1, 2018 he died peacefully in his sleep due to complications from cancer. I was with him when he passed and he said he was ready for his next big adventure, smiling all the while. Scott was an extraordinary man. He will be missed. Attached is an obituary that he wrote himself. Please post it wherever those whose lives he touched might see it: Scott Charles “Charlie” Sibbald died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday 2018.09.01 from complications due to cancer, maintaining his cheerful, positive attitude to the very end. A Radical Libertarian, Charlie liked to joke that he was “Left of the Democrats and right of the Republicans.” As an educator, Charlie always tried to convince his students to think for themselves, make their own decisions, and follow their dreams. Charlie was also an inveterate traveler, having visited 48 states and some 50+ countries, and an avid sports fan, especially for his alma mater, the University of South Florida. Go Bulls! Charlie has arranged for his ashes to be distributed in 6 small parcels: California, Virginia, Florida, Wisconsin, Japan, and Mars. “If I can’t be the first to walk on Mars, then I can **** sure be among the first to be buried on Mars!” Charlie asks that if you learned anything from him, or were inspired in any way, that you honor his legacy by “Paying Forward.” Find your dreams , and help others find theirs! Charlie PM'd me in July that he was going in for surgery on a huge tumor in the groin area and wasn't sure he was coming out then. He was setting me up at that time for notifying the board and the spreading of a portion of his ashes in the Bull fountain on campus. He came thru but was pretty certain he wouldn't see Christmas. Got the call last Thursday from him saying his vital organs were shutting down and he probably wouldn't make it thru the weekend. He sounded awesome (said it was the Percocet) and we had a great 20 minute conversation .... but it was also one of the most surreal, most uplifting and most depressing conversations that I've ever had, triggering a flood of emotions when I hung up. His nephew's email arrived this afternoon. 27

He'd registered his current account in '11 as I recall and he posted more than 30,000 comments. He was a supporter of the community and he loved the USF Bulls. I will miss his his comments here as I had in those periods that he seemingly vanished. Now, I think I know why he was gone for small periods at a time. I didn't know about the medical situation in advance. I will miss him. Rest in peace Bulls brother.

I never met him, but he was always fun to banter with here and we had a few discussions in regards to politics over the years. We didn't see eye to eye on some things, but he was a delight to spar with. Never personal in his attacks, thoughtful and engaging when going back and forth, and always humorous. My thoughts and prayers go out to those who knew him better. His presence will be sorely missed here and, without a doubt, with those closer to him. I had a slim chance of meeting up with him in D.C. a few years back to watch USF when they were in the NCAA tourney and we couldn't connect. I'm kicking myself for not making it work. Our first meeting was when I took him to see USF WBB at MD. Had a blast and yucked it like we were old friends. We kept in touch and met a few more times. My hope is he's driving his VW Bus around heaven having a blast. RIP my friend.
