As long as Strong is happy, I'm happy.  He never sugar coats anything.

We were running Nickel (Base) against their 2 TE sets. You won’t see that again (hopefully).

With that said, the front 7 was disappointing. There was a play where Nico completely overran his gap, leaving a huge hole and 1 on 1 with the Safety. Just can’t have that.

They didn't allow a TD until it was 31-0 nothing in the second half and we were rotating in players who who wont play in big games. Calm down people, its ok. It's just week one.

We stayed in a base 3-3-5 with very little gaming and blitzing up front.

Yeah, CBJM  kept things very simple. What's the point of opening up the playbook when the game was never in jeopardy?

To please our fans...lol  Joking

He's going to Blitz the hell out of Tech.  Strong wants this one... I also am one of the few who probably watched the Georgia Tech game, and they aren't as good as many here are giving them credit for.

I was one of those that did, at least most of it.  It sure reminded me of Navy.  The dive up the middle scares me as much as anything they do.

The trick to stopping the offense is to take away the dive.  I think we can do that... we do have a jumbo package and they've been preparing for this game.  We have the speed to take away the pitch and the QB... If they play the way the did for the first half of Elon, we'll be fine.  And while their offense is like Navy's, they aren't nearly as disciplined with it.  They have a good dive but Alcorn State took that way for almost 2 quarters.  They just couldn't score or sustain a drive.  I watched every second of that game.  The side they run the strongest to is the left.  They have holes... we do too... but I don't think this game will be as close as one may think.  I think we'll jump out on them and they'll not be able to catch up.  You don't stop them for an entire game, you get out on them quickly and I think we can do that.  I think we win by 2TDs. I'm concerned about every game and everyone's strengths... but I'm not going to over blow them.

Our offense may only see the ball two times each quarter. It is vital we establish a run game and play ball control.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
