Some took the opportunity to completely re-brand. I'm not real sure of the specifics but the CC in my home town switched to a state college as well, they just kept the original name and replace the CC with state college.

Think they have to offer some 4 year degrees to make the change. But it has been a long time since I read about it. 1

But it has been a long time since I read about it. That sounds about right. Was there a change in funding to entice schools to offer at least one four year program. I can remember ours just randomly looking to add a elementary degree to go along with the change when before they were ok with just the 2 year programs.

He said as more Florida colleges sought to offer baccalaureate degrees, SACS insisted the schools change their names to reflect the fact that they were offering four-year degrees. Law said the name-change rule is still on the books but “is no longer the operative rule” under the SACS process.
