The formula is pretty **** simple when you don't have all the potential ball carriers moving around and the offensive line cut blocking you all day. This is exactly why it's still a viable offense, especially for team's who have to recruit athletes who may have athletic limitations. There is knowing how to stop it, and there is actually having to go against the option everyday in practice for 4 or 5 years. He has much more experience against the option than most coaches. Its safe to assume he will have the defense prepared.

Stopping the option is just being a decent football player and playing your assignment pretty much every team is "prepared to stop the option" when they play tech or navy. It's a system that has been around for **** near a century there are no secrets to stopping it other than everyone playing their assignment and making tackles. This is all much easier said than done. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face/cut blocked 3 plays in a row. Edited August 7, 2018 by Bull Dozer

Look for improvements in the defense and special teams if there's to be an improvement on last season.

The philosophy is to not have the defense on the field very much. If Strong is worried I think we will see one offensive series per half that eats the entire clock and results in a touchdown.
