I remember the story pretty good. His dad I believe worked for the sherriffs dept. I think it was mostly a political thing. He may have had sex with young girls, we will never know. He was never charged and the kicker is the school tossed him after the season was complete even though this stuff went on well before season ended. BTW they tossed him THE DAY AFTER the season ended. As I said he was NEVER charged with anything. There was a lot of newspaper coverage at the time. For the Mets to pick this kid high in the first round and now late during negotiations to say they stopped negotiating because they just found out about these allegations is preposterous. I know the Mets are dumb and all but I dont buy the fact that they scouted the hell out of this kid then dratfed him out of high school knowing they were going to pay him millions and had no idea. PULLLLLLEASE, I think it is a tactic they are using to throw his market value way down. Bunch of crap I tell ya.
