USF has 11 pitchers in the pros (MILB and MLB) right now. For 2018 they just broke 300 innings pitched (301) . Their combined record is 18-14, led by Joe Cavallaro (Mets A)with 7 wins. Joe also has 72ks in 65.2 IPs . As a group their K/9IP is 9.12 led by Austin Adams (Nats - AAA) with 14.45 (38K in 23.2IP). Also they have 21 saves lead by Kevin Quackenbush (Reds - AAA) with 8 

Joe was also an All-Star Starter for the South Atlantic Southern Division where he pitched an inning and gave up 2 hits and an earned run. His team won but the guy who pitched the second inning garnered the win even though he gave up 3 hits and an earned run as well. 

Tommy Eveld (DBacks A+) was an All-Star for the California League North Division. Tommy pitched a clean sheet in the 6th with 1 K His team won 8-1.

USF Baseball Summer Ball Update  

Carson Ragsdale mowing down the opposition, Jake Sullivan continues to feast on pitching 
 

TAMPA, Fla., JUNE 25, 2018 – After a second full week of summer ball action, USF baseball players continue to contribute in big ways. 

 

Sophomore Carson Ragsdale (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) appeared in three games last week for the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League. In three efforts out of the bullpen, Ragsdale was virtually untouchable. He allowed only one hit in five innings, walking two and striking out nine. He fanned three batters in each appearance. The 6-foot-8 righty has a 0.82 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 11 innings.

 

Redshirt freshman catcher Jake Sullivan (Tampa) played in six games last week for the Savannah Bananas of the Coastal Plain League. He went 8-for-18 (.444) with three runs scored and three RBI. Sullivan had three multi-hit games, including a 3-for-3, two-RBI performance on Saturday. Sullivan is batting .435 with 11 runs and eight RBI in 13 games.  

 

Junior Joe Genord (Lake Worth, Fla.) played in three games with the Amsterdam Mohawks of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League last week. He had two hits, a run scored and seven RBI. USF’s home run leader in 2018 hit his first long ball of the summer, a grand slam on June 19. He finished the game with five RBI. Genord had a double and two RBI on June 22.  

 

Redshirt sophomore lefty Connor Eason(Chesapeake, Va.) appeared in his first game with the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plain League on June 21. He logged one inning and struck out the side.

 

Juniors JD Dutka (Suwanee, Ga.) and Kyle Phillips(Orlando) will also be competing this summer. Dutka will be playing in the Sunbelt League in Georgia and Phillips will be in the Florida League.
