She's been heavily involved in firings so it's not a real stretch to imagine her heavily involved on the other end ...

Ultimately she is the one to hire and fire ADs, but like was mentioned, we don't know how personally involved she gets,  I mean, did the search firm have other candidates that she nixed before hiring Harlan, or was he the search firms top choice?  I guess that's why they hire one in the first place, so we don't know.

How about...

  • DW is the reason we're not in the P5?
  • USF should be on the same level as Miami and Louisville?
  • Utah isn't a better job than USF? (or it's not a better job? I don't know what his point was here)

It's hard for him to argue, because he believes the same thing.

Approximately $100,000.

Seriously?

How about for less than that the two of us pitch our idea that this is a two man job right now with a policy wonk and a PR face to make it rain.

The P5 is the reason we're not in the P5.
Miami is an old private school with a dirty history for their football program.
I'd rather be here than Utah but that P5 money and power makes it a better job.

You can fault DW for many things, not getting into the P5 isn't one of them.

I get the reason for the Miami and Louisville comparison, but its ridiculous. Miami is a totally different situation, apples to oranges. Louisville, on the surface, makes sense to compare us too, but 100 years of football, Papa John, Jurich, and Johnny Unitas make it silly.

Utah is unquestionably a better job, at a better school, in a better conference.

We were on the same level as Louisville, Is DW to blame for us getting left behind? no. I may be recalling things wrong but weren't JG and DW outspoken about refusing the Big East TV contract that was offered. If that was accepted the Big East may have survived and we would be in much better shape today than we are.

Pitt and Cuse lead the "don't accept the deal" charge right before they left, for obvious reasons

EDIT: Pitt's Mark Nordenberg  was the main voice in not accepting the deal.

Was USF part of the don't accept crowd? I thought they were.
