His first hire would be himself for WBB hc gig with Geno Auriemma as his bench coach.

Stop the nonsense and hire Brian Lamb.  The guy is a superstar businessman and person.

Go Bulls!

Don’t think he would bite at the AD job right now tbh. He’s progressing very well at Fifth Third and I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up as a C-level exec there if he stays. That’s a lot of $$$ working for a mid-bracket bank in the US.

After reading that I'm not sure he wasn't just guessing at everything he said. Judy has to approve any hiring but not sure how involved she's been in past searches. As he mentioned there was a search firm last time as well.

She's been heavily involved in firings so it's not a real stretch to imagine her heavily involved on the other end ...

Search Firms pro - they allow candidates to express interest without having to formally apply, allowing good candidates to feel confident that their name won't be splashed around the internet unless they are a finalist.

Search Firms cons = they are a good ole boys network. They tend to recommend people who are friends or who have paid for their services before. (ie - your an AD, you use Billy Bill's search firm to help hire a MBB coach, then a year later Billy Bill' search firm is saying you the AD is a good candidate for someone else's job, you earned that title by hiring the same search firm a year earlier).

I'm not commenting on the firm USF is hiring, just how I see many of these firms operate. l

One more thing, if Michael Kelly isn't interested, I bet he could name a ton of great candidates. I also know the first name he would say is Rob Higgins.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
