I think that having 3 or 4 of the same teams being very good (most Power conferences have this) every year could help the conference some. So far, the conference winners have been:

2013: UCF

2014: Memphis, Cincy, UCF (three way tie)

2015: Houston

2016: Temple

2017: UCF

The revolving door of coaching will always give a feeling of disarray to this conference. UCF went from BCS champs, to winless, to undefeated in a short period of time. I think that pretty much sums up what this conference will be for all it's members. Constantly having to rebuild with new coaches, no consistent powerhouse teams.

Being P6 means getting G5 money and G5 access. The only place P6 exists is in a few of the minds of some fans of AAC teams. Until the P5 decides we have so much money we should probably make a 6th member to share our finances with (never going to happen) or ESPN is like we have so much money we should over pay for a product no one is clambering for just because we are nice people (never going to happen) there is no P6. The worst P5 deals are 10x ours and our deals are marginally better than our next closest g5 brethren and our access is the exact same as the rest of the G5. P6 doesn’t exist and it doesn’t matter one bit how anyone in AAC does because if anything there success may one day get them a Life boat out of the G5 but it will never and I repeat never result in more money or access for the AAC. The aac is g5 and the aac will always be G5 because anyone with any power or money says that’s the case. Ucf was a joke of a program and we brought them into our joke of a conference them having any measurable success in the aac has not resulted in one more penny or one step closer to the adult table for the AAC.

👍You win. We should have never voted in UCF. We should of voted RICE into the AAC. B/C we allowed UCF in the AAC, They stole a BCS win, 1 NY6 game and a undefeated season away from us. B/c their success made us suck and underachieve.

Argument could be made that, with their faux natty nonsense, we could be a step further away ...

The system is set so that no matter what you do the G5 always ends up further alway. The name of the game is P5 wins we need to find away out of the P6 wasteland or accept the harsh realities of our fate in the AAC.

I think this would be a better argument had UCF not gone winless under the same coach that they were BCS champs with (O'Leary). They weren't in any kind of transition phase, it was kind of unexplainable why they were so bad that year.

What criteria would the AAC have to meet to become a "Power" conference? Are there any set guidelines for this? I don't see another entire conference being added. Two or four teams maybe, which I believe we have a decent shot of being included in that, along with UCF.

It's unlikely they'd go to P6, I know, but our Conference Pres (or whatever his title) has been pushing that notion.
