This site has SM going 9 to the A's

No. 9 Oakland A’s — Shane McClanahan, LHP, South Florida

Throwing hard will get a prospect noticed, but throwing hard from the left side will get a prospect paid.

That’s exactly what McClanahan will be early in the first round of this year’s draft, as the redshirt sophomore from USF has one of the liveliest arms in the draft, generally sitting in the mid-to-upper 90s with his fastball, while complementing his velocity with an above average changeup.  He strikes out a ton of opposing batters, but also walks his fair share.

Some scouts also question his durability, as he’s already undergone Tommy John surgery in his career, leading many to think he starts professionally in the bullpen, not only to save his arm, but also because it will allow him to get to the big leagues quickly.

12. Toronto Blue Jays: Shane McClanahan, LHP, South Florida

Shane McClanahan

McClanahan has the best fastball in the draft. He regularly touches triple digits and backs it with a plus changeup and average slider. The left-hander lost his freshman season to Tommy John surgery but returned to strike out 215 hitters in 142 innings over the past two seasons. His command needs work, as he's walked batters at a 5.3 BB/9 clip this spring, but there's huge upside here if everything clicks.

19. Cardinals
Mayo: Jackson Kowar, RHP, Florida --
Some think Kowar has better raw stuff than his teammate, Singer, albeit with less polish. Kowar's top two pitches are his fastball and changeup, which could remind some in Cardinals Nation of Michael Wacha.
Callis: Shane McClanahan, LHP, South Florida -- Unless one of the premier high school pitchers slide this far -- which isn't uncommon -- a college arm is the most likely pick.

20. Twins
Mayo: Shane McClanahan, LHP, South Florida --
The Twins are said to be mostly looking at college arms or high school bats, so they could opt for someone like Naylor or Schnell in this spot. But we'll stick with college pitching and McClanahan, who has slid a bit because of command issues, but still has a plus-plus fastball from the left side.
Callis: Jackson Kowar, RHP, Florida -- Minnesota could grab the last college pitcher from the second tier before they're all gone. The Twins could be the lone team to make California shortstop Osiris Johnson a first-rounder, and Denaburg, Larnach and Naylor also are possibilities.

Wichita St has had 5 players drafted in the first ten rounds. Crazy. Shows how much that team under-performed last year
