Jespersen Earns First Player of the Week Honor

USF senior Maria Jespersen receives her first Player of the Week Honor

TAMPA, JAN. 29, 2018 – Senior Maria Jespersen has played in over 120 games for the Bulls but it was her near perfect, 24-point performance that finally clinched her first American Athletic Conference Player of Week honor.

The senior forward has been recognized on the league’s weekly honor roll 10 times in the last two seasons, but Monday marks her first Player of the Week distinction. Jespersen (Arhus, Denmark) led the Bulls to a bounce back win against Temple on Sunday. Jespersen scored a game-high 24 points and turned in a nearly perfect offensive outing. The forward finished 8-of-11 from the floor, 2-of-3 from behind the arc and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe. Jespersen also filled her stat line with six rebounds, two blocks and two assists.

Jespersen averages a team-high 18.1 points per game in conference action and has turned in 8.6 rebounds per game. The preseason all-conference honoree has tallied seven 20-plus point outings this season.
