Every UCF class since 2004 has been part of a class that either helped build a statue for a person who killed a player or helped raise money to pay off the family of that player (but not too much money, UCF managed to screw the family out of millions).

FACTS:  the student/athletes classes had nothing to do with statue for GOL it was a select group of donors.

FACT: someone died (Eric Plancher and his name needs to be remembered) as it  was tragic.  EP unfortunately was not and is not the only college football player to die and family not awarded a large settlement -- but truly can any amount replace a missing child?  What number would be good for YOU?

FACT: every  football class at UCF since 2004 (14 straight classes) has experi need the joy of winning at least one Conference Championship.

I was just piggybacking on this thread, no intention of going further....

But, One FACT does not take away from another.

You can start by remembering how to spell his name. Also, the number is $200,000. At least that's what UCF thinks a life is worth. Probably going to be less money than the statue will cost that they're letting that select group of donors build. And every player/student who doesn't say a word about that statue has plenty to do with it being built.

seriously though if you can get over that UCF is the team in the video it's really good. HBO 24/7 quality and a roller coaster of emotions for the players

Ereck was a wonderful young man. I saw him play several times in HS.   UCF certainly screwed up in the loss of his life.  The fact that other schools have as well, as in Cal, which happened after the EP tragedy, is doubly  horrific IMO.

The Supreme  Court determined the 200 K amount, not UCF, although they certainly wanted that to happen, or better said, their insurance carrier.

The Supreme Court affirmed, holding that UCFAA was entitled to limited sovereign immunity under Fla. Stat. 768.28 because it primarily acts as an instrumentality of the state. Remanded for entry of a judgment corresponding to the jury’s award of damages but limiting UCFAA’s liability to $200,000.

Exactly .... unless there's some evidence out there that they wanted to pay the family more but legally couldn't, JT's comment about the value they place on a life is accurate. There's no way to spin out of that.
