I think all the Scott desire comes from the USF faithful wanting so hard for a bull to come in and be our "Steve Spurrier-type" savior who will stay forever.

But let's face it. He was awful last year.

He's not the one.

at least they could mention the guy with a USF degree who coached at USF at one time and who has run a top 10 offense at two different P5 schools as their co-ordinator.

Maybe it has been said earlier in the thread but you know Burke is just a kid right? 29 years old. He was playing QB at Louisville not long ago and went straight in to being a grad assistant. Has been with CCS since 2008.

This year is his 1st as any kind of position coach. Not defending him but clearly he isn't an expert and is just playing along. CCS isn't going to fire him. At best he may go back to being an assistant.

LA Rams head coach is 31. Age is no excuse for being a failure at your job.

Appears he wasnt ready to be a special teams coach...look at the results. Somebody else needs to handle special teams.

I don't disagree. But you see the difference between Sean McVay and Burke correct?

One has been with Charlie Strong and got coffee as an assistant for 6 years and this year is his 1st year as a position coach because loyalty I would assume.

The other has been with John and Jay Gruden, got coffee for 2 years, then became TE Coach for 3 seasons and then became an OC for 3 seasons. Now the youngest head coach of an NFL team ever.

Very different trajectories there. Thus the outcomes really aren't all that surprising.

didn't say they don't have different career trajectories. You said he is just a kid at 29. I pointed out an NFL HC who is just 2 years older.

Strong had issues at Texas with special teams. Perhaps the kid or whoever coaches them next year can watch some tape of the best units in the country and learn from them instead of blaming it on execution.

It pretty much IS almost always about execution .... but that is also almost always the coach's responsibility and blame needs to go there also.

not when you only have two upbacks to try and block 3 rushers when punting when just about every other team you see has 3.

it's no coincidence that Strong had problems with special teams at Texas too. maybe it's scheme or technique or execution but it all boils down to coaching.

If it was about the two upbacks, EVERY punt would have been blocked by any team using it ...

Unless he's had ST problems every year at UT and every year at UL, it very well could be a coincidence ...

When Strong leaves(when ever that may be) I think Scott at HC with King as OC fits the bill nicely.

Not high on Scott anymore. He will need a few years showing me something after that dumpster fire in Tenn.
