TAMPA, NOV. 14, 2017Tiffany Prats has added a program-changer for the 2018-19 season.

USF's second-year head coach has announced the signing of accomplished talent Ramya Meenakshisundaram, who will tee off for the Bulls as a freshman next fall.

"The potential Ramya has and what she can do in college is limitless," Prats said. "She's going to work hard, she's going to get better and she wants to get better. I'm really excited to get a player like that to come in here who is buying into the vision we have for the program. She really wants to be a part of creating history at USF."

20672The four-year team captain for Atlantic Coast High School in Jacksonville was named 2015 Florida Times Union Golf of the Year and is a four-time winner at her prep conference tournament.

Meenakshisundaram's golf resume is packed with other shining achievements that include victories at the Florida Junior Tour event at Amelia National in 2017, the 2017 First Coast Women's Amateur, where she was a runner-up in 2015, and the 2015 AGJA Gary Gilchrist Junior Open at Innisbrook.

"She's played in a lot of really big tournaments and has had success," Prats said.

Meenakshisundaram also qualified as a medalist at the 2017 USGA Women's Amateur Championship and has competed in the USGA Junior Championship the past two years. The 2016 AJGA Trans-America honor roll member has posted five top-10 performances at AJGA tournaments, including a top-three finish at the AJGA Davis Love III event in 2016.

"Anyone that knows Ramya loves her," Prats said. "She has a great reputation around the golf world and her golf game, you look at her scores and they're constantly trending downward. We're really excited to see her hard work paying off."

Meenakshisundaram also was a semifinalist at the 2017 Florida Women's Amateur and has set a great example in the classroom as an AP/honor roll student with a 4.6 grade-point average. Her academic accolades include two AP Scholar Awards and she's the president of the National Junior Honor Society at her school.

"Overall, she's a great person, player and a great student. Ramya is going to bring something to the team that we need," Prats said. "She has the drive, dedication and the work ethic that are key to building a successful program. She is going to be a key piece to our rebuilding and I look for her to make an immediate impact."
