"We are so excited and pleased with the completion of this vital and transformational project and how it will positively impact the student-athlete experience here at USF," USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan said. "The commitment of a generous lead gift from the Fishman family and the support of other tremendous donors have empowered USF Athletics to significantly elevate the environment in which we develop student-athletes off the field into one of the finest in the country." The new facility, a complete renovation of existing space in the Selmon Center, was made possible by a generous lead gift from the Fishman Family Foundation, as well as contributions from other donors. The Fishman Family Student-Athlete Enrichment Center encompasses nine tutorial rooms, 31 computer stations, three Sharp digital annotation boards, two digital information boards, open individual and group learning spaces, six 1-on-1 academic coordinator meeting spaces, learning specialist areas, and new offices for USF's Student-Athlete Enhancement and Behavioral Health services. It also houses USF Athletics Academic Services and Compliance departments. "The new facility is a tremendous upgrade that makes for a more functional and enjoyable space for our staff and student-athletes," Jodie Libadisos, Associate AD for Student-Athlete Enhancement said. "The new Fishman Family Student-Athlete Enrichment Center offers a first-class facility for our student-athletes, staff and recruiting. We now have multi-purpose spaces, technology, and functionality that allows for academic sessions, leadership meetings, small group sessions, and individual studying. What a difference from a just a few months ago!" USF has excelled in providing an elite-level student-athlete experience and graduating student-athletes. The Bulls recently posted a program-record 86 percent graduation rate last fall, and for the first time in program history posted an overall grade-point average above 3.0 in back-to-back academic calendar years. USF saw 106 student-athletes earn their degree in the last academic year, 247 post a 3.0 GPA or higher during the spring semester, and 198 earn academic all-conference honors. In the community, USF student-athletes, coaches and staff set a program record with 5,025 hours of service in the community. "The generous donations of the Fishman Family and our other incredible donors have provided our student-athletes and staff with an incredible academic learning and student-athlete development facility that will positively impact our young men and women for years to come," Tim Anderson, Associate AD for Academic Services, said. "Observing our student-athletes consistently present and utilizing the new space and technology – morning and night – is genuinely exciting and the renovation has provided yet another resource in supporting our student-athletes' success." "It's a great place for everybody to take care of the student part of their life," Cameron Ruff, a graduate senior center of the football team, said. "Every day, everybody has lots of assignments to do and a lot of work. The facility at USF has laid a foundation for us to succeed, through the new transformation and the spacious environment. It's definitely pleasing to the eye and very welcoming. It's a place you want to be and a place you feel comfortable working in. There's a lot of different stations for you to get your work done and areas you can do group projects. There are laptops you can use, tutors you can sign up for and academic advisors that always want you to be successful. It's very motivating and a wonderful environment to be in." The Fishman Family Center opened prior to the start of the 2017 fall semester and has already begun to make a significant impact for USF student-athletes. "It provides a great community workplace for student-athletes to get their projects and school work finished in a stylish manner," said Hanna Seybold, a junior on the women's soccer team. "It's nice having some place you can go to, where you can concentrate and get school work done." Article

Having seen both the 'before' and 'after' facility first-hand, I can attest to how much this will further help our student-athletes excel in the classroom. Thanks to the Fishman family and their commitment to USF!
