They went from unrranked to #9 after beating jackson state? Also TCU was ranked 9 both times they met. OSU was there best regular season win, and ok state beat a bunch of nobodies to get to 14. If the AAC got the boost the B12 teams get by beating nobodies the tinmen would’ve been there. Hate to say it, but it’s true. They get elevated based on the name of their conference, and AAC teams don’t. SOS should be noted that it is very biased.

No problem with using the Kanigits season as fodder for expanding playoffs but trying to say they should have been there THIS year is kind of ridiculous. I agree with this premise as long as we aren't using those as hard #s. If TCU was in the MWC with the exact same roster, OU would be ranked lower. UCF didn't deserve to be in the final 4 this season, but they did deserve more recognition and hype throughout the year.

Per sagarin UCF SoS was 70. Missouri was 72. Ole Miss 67. Vandy 66. As it ended up Alabama played the 38th toughest schedule but it was in the high 60s before they played 2 playoff games against top teams.

You bring up talent wise. I'd imagine you out talented ASU by a ton last year, don't care what kind of offense you were running then, yet they kicked your ass .... They were far more motivated for that game than UCF. It happens in bowl games. You play any of the 4 CFP playoff teams, plus Auburn or some other top 10 teams, in the regular season or a CFP game and it's highly doubtful you win, or possibly even compete. You had a great undefeated season .... embrace that and keep with the cute faux national championship stuff. Of course we out talented stAte but were also still a mess on offense. We beat only the bad teams on our schedule. As one would expect of a mediocre 6-7 team. Arkansas State was not such a team and so they beat us. Could some guys be unmotivated? Of course. It's a stretch to say otherwise but they were thrilled to be in any bowl after 2015.

Why they weren't considered for the playoff is pretty obvious to most.
