We have to take the ball, and you can’t score on every play. Sometimes we’re looking for the big play. Just take what the defense gives you.”

Say what?

And when they give you ****, what?

Is that not pretty common coach speak?

Yeah, perhaps. I was reading the entirety of the comments and had to stop because of the coach speak.  I wish the coach speak was more real than:

Are we going fast, just for fast sakes?  Sometimes I wonder this.  The key is getting a first down on every drive.  Once we get that first drive our scoring chances go up by 50% or more.  Its apparent our offense is not at the elite level from 2016.  And make no mistake we were elite

Noticeable offensive changes from last year so far:

  • Slowed it down, checking at the line. We were getting plays in sooo much quicker last year.
  • No more option plays. Those were absolute killers last year for opposing defenses.
  • Greatly reduced sweep plays. Some of our biggest plays last year (Adams at Memphis) were from this.

Basically we've taken misdirection out and slowed down. 2 key components of last years offensive success.

Perhaps also we are missing speed of Mack and Adams. However I think we have manageable replacements in Sands and Antoine. I saw Antoine a couple of times last night (looked good), however where is Sands?? The guy was tearing it up preseason.

Because we're not executing properly ...

BS. you can't blame this on the players. Their safeties were up the entire game. they were begging us to beat them deep. we ran 98% of our plays within 7 yards of line of scrimmage. we ran one Go route that went for 65 yard TD. Taggart ran go routes all game long to not only score but to open up the defense. we negated our speed and size advantage on the outside.

don't forget go routes. we used to attack downfield. now not so much. it's Flowers best pass. we would stretch defense and then work underneath.

Today we needed 8' players to fit the plays .... plays were there to be made.

no they weren't. if you mean the 3 yards hitches then yes. we missed on those but they would have gone for minimal gains only anyway. we didn't attack on offense at all and that was the play calling.

Yep.  First play from scrimmage in the FSU and SMU games were go routes for TDs

Losing Adams and Mack hurts but you call this crap with both of them guess what same results.
