Staff alert:

Strong negotiated higher asst pool to keep current assistants?

From dude that broke it so McStache could re-break it

Charlie Strong would like to take most of his staff from Texas with him to South Florida, including offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert.

Not even then.

I'm not convinced yet that Strong can win without Hurtt's recruiting

I hope to be convinced very quickly!

That's a concern but he is a name and he isn't Schiano and a 5 year deal may indicate he wants to be coach for life.

Now just the tiny matter of recruiting and performing.

We're more relevant now than when Tags was our coach. This is a great hire.

Now just win us some conference titles! I want him to stay here!

I have no inside sources but I have heard from more than a couple Texas people say that some boosters wanted him to fail and actively worked against him at the high school level.

I have none either, but friends from Texas have said they didn't feel he was a good fit.

Also remember Herbie making a huge deal about it and the Texas environment.  Boosters have ton of control and is a toxic situation.

Why would you want to keep the assistants who failed you at Texas.   I'm sure assistant pool is to hire better ones.   Special teams was an issue at Texas.   I don't see him keeping most of his guys but I guess this is what a head coach decides.

Not sure how I feel about this. He needs to keep some of old staff for recruiting continuity and their experience recruiting at this level to USF. This ain't Texas, or even Louisville.
