Better than status quo

G5 need to lobby unanimously for one guaranteed spot

NY6 otherwise, is irrelevant

I think USF would spend time more wisely b trying to get in any P5 conference.  Whatever it takes.

More fans to the games... winning the conference... show that we are a successful (or potentially successful) program

Another way to do that, is for the playing field to be more fair

Its hard to make the playing field fair when its the P5's field and they would like it even more lopsided.  Maybe USF can lobby the state to push UF or FSU to assist in going ACC or SEC.

Ohio State is 11-1 and Oklahoma is 10-2.

But I would consider Oklahoma over Michigan

I only fixed it because you had only 7 in your list, and was missing the last "P5" conference champ.

I like this... maybe even using anti-trust laws to force a more level playing field (since we are talking about money)

ACC or Big 12 (SEC won't happen)

Need to get rid of the playoff committee and replace it with objective metrics.

For one, it should be only conference champions.

Hell, just simple, take the 4 conference champions with the best record... then have some kind of tie breaker for when records are the same.

So schedule cupcakes for OOC games?

8 teams.  5 P5 winners and 3 at large.  Solves most issues.  The P5 doesnt care about non P5 winners.  So neither does NCAA.

This is the only way it should go.  8 teams and no "auto bid" for the G5.  A #17 Western Michigan doesn't deserve to make the playoffs over the #8 ranked team.

The problem is there will never be a G5 in the playoffs under that scenario. They will always make the same assumption that you have for Western Michigan.

In most people's minds,  a P5 team will always be superior to any G5 team with the same or close to the same record.

 Go Bulls!

We already went over this:

Best compromise (to keep the P5 happy):

8 teams: 5 P5 conf champs; 2 Wild Card Spots; and Top G5 conf champ: then seed according to ranking.

(use the same bowl games for this spots; the NY6 is incorporated into the CFP8)

Yes

This would never happen. It's either 8 at large, OR 5 P5 champs, one G5, and 2 at large.
