Here's the realistic list once you get past the pie in the sky dreams (Kiffen, Fleck, Strong). In no particular order

Mario Cristobal

Lincoln Riley

Jason Candle

TJ Weist

Larry Scott

Calvin Magee

If Strong had been successful at UT I would agree with you, but now he's a rebuild and it's possible. It's not a sure-in no-brainer. But it's possible.

It's possible because he'd have a pretty stacked cupboard here.  We should have gotten him back in 2010, it would have made so much sense.  Now he's got a ready-to-go offense and he can help fix the defense which is his specialty.

CWT was considered outside the pie by many here a few years ago....

And he leaves USF with zero bowl wins and a losing record

Someone that can land a couple stud JUCO DEs for next year would be my preference.

To coach in Texas it is almost a necessity to have Texas ties. This is going to be the struggle for Rhule as it was for Strong. Mack left the cupboard bare and Strong could never effectively rebuild. I think Strong would do much better in Florida and would stay here for at least 3 seasons. i take Strong over Kiffin every time.

Mack Brown went 8-5 9-4 and 8-5 his last 3 years. he went 7-2 in the big 12 his last year. they had 19 first, second or honorable mention players for the big 12 that year. heck Strong had 11 of them his first year.

He had 3 first or second team all big 12 preseason picks his first year. that was as many as TCU. more than WVU, TTech, Kansas, etc. one less than OU

Jeff Scott, co-offensive coordinator at Clemson could be an option.   Seems to have a strong recruiting skill.   He also has central Florida family roots.

Larry Scott is a possibility but no, why you may ask? he has never be a coordinator let alone and head coach so nope.

Why do people always bring this coordinator thing up.  Two of the four coaches in the CFP this year were never coordinators.  Being a head coach is a different set of skills then the X's & O's of offense or defense.
