23. Birmingham Bowl (Dec. 29, Birmingham, Alabama): South Florida (10-2) vs. South Carolina (6-6)
This is once again a mismatch in records between a mediocre SEC team and a good AAC team. South Carolina’s defense may have trouble with South Florida’s rushing attack. USF QB Quinton Flowers ran for over 1,400 yards while running back Marlon Mack has over 1,100.

I believe we win we stay ranked, as there are no more playoff polls after today. The last poll with the  final ranking is the final AP poll....so we just got to win.

11-2 and a bowl win against an SEC team to cap off the season.  We will remain ranked and depending on how the chips fall, maybe in the high teens.

That would be a nice set up leading into next season.  We should be ranked since we have almost everyone returning.

Need to create a "who to root for poll" to jettison us up in the rankings! Hoping for a lot of these overrated 4-loss teams to fall in front of us.

I'm glad we get an SEC opponent, but it's pretty bad when the top two teams in the AAC can't get better than a 6-6 opponent.  Shows how screwed up the current system is.

Winning this game would allow us to check off at least two things Oviedo State uses against us as a "trash talking point":

- finish a season ranked

-double digit win season

 

Next year we fill the trophy case with an AAC trophy, and make it 7-2.

That will require our defense to be top 50. I don't know if that happens.
