I've been through birmingham many times on business. The Sheraton is your best bet for proximity(short uber/cab ride away), as is any other downtown hotel.  Personally I'm thinking of staying a little south of downtown at the Aloft, its a W hotel property and its pretty badass.  Its listed as one of the affiliated hotels on the bowl page.  It'll run you around $120-130 a night but its a posh W like experience.  Sheraton is a stock convention center type with normal rooms for probs the same price.  Aloft is about a 10-15min drive south, closer to five points.

just my $.02

GO BULLS!!!

I agree, Alofts are clean and hip, priced right, pet friendly, and the hotel bars are trendy.  I'd be all over that usually, but for these bowl trips, I try to stay around the team whenever possible.

I stayed at one and agree... very trendy and fresh.  My buddy CoogBull is an SPG guy and swears by them.

Probably.  This suggests that the Westin may be the USC team hotel:

We're all set, joining NE Bull an hour or two before the game.  Not sure if we spend the night in Bham, or start the trip home.

In case you didn't see it on the main board, word is that Hyatt is the AAC hotel, Westin is the SEC hotel.

Driving down from Tennessee if the weather looks good on game day.

I didn't see it, but thanks. The Birmingham bowl website list the several partner hotels, including the Hyatt, Westin and Sheraton.
