One statistic that jumped out: UConn allowed Cincinnati only two yards on the ground. Run defense is clearly a strength, as the Huskies are ranked 11th in the country, allowing 98.8 rushing yards per game. But Cincinnati lacks the firepower of South Florida, which has piled up at least 35 points and 440 yards in a nation's best 10 straight games.

"I feel like the run defense has been great, or at least very, very good all year long," Diaco said. "We've played a couple top rushing teams. ... So this will be a great, great challenge. They are statistically on offense No. 1 in the country in many categories."

UConn allowed just two rushing yards on 22 attempts last week in a 20-9 victory over Cincinnati, which isn't capable of presenting the challenges that South Florida will. It's hard to imagine the Huskies turning this in to a true defensive battle, which means there is pressure on the offense to, in a way, keep up.

Scouting report

UConn will win if: It can limit the South Florida offense, particularly on the ground. This is an interesting matchup between one of the best rushing defenses in the country and one of the best rushing offense. UConn will have to deal with a two-headed running monster of running back Marlon Mack and running quarterback Quinton Flowers. The Huskies typically have trouble with mobile quarterbacks.

South Florida will win if: It can hold down the UConn running game. The Huskies aren’t a juggernaut rushing team, but they showed they can move the ball last week. The Bulls own the worst rush defense in the conference. If the Huskies can control the ball on the ground, it minimizes the time the South Florida offense has the ball. If South Florida wins time of possession, it will likely win.

Uconn will not be able to limit our rushing yards.

I think its a pretty safe bet they wont be the #11 rushing defense after tomorrow.

All that I ask is for our defense not to give up more than 21 points. Our offense will do the rest.

Have they played us though??? They can't stop it all if we execute. The pass game can open up the run game if necessary.

I think last year we were really struggled to run inside and were forced to run outside with 3 backs including Price.

I don't know who will be 3rd back this time.

pass more like we did at Cincinnati?

I think we could struggle with rushing inside...but outside is different story.

Do we ever win the time of possession battle? I'm not sure that's the governing stat in this game.
