The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Just a quick Good, Bad, and Ugly

 

The Good:  The Win, The Punting, The Kick Coverage, Rodney Adams, Marlon Mack, The Scoring Defense

The Bad:  The Bend but Don't Break Defense (Soft Coverage Overall), QF and his Inaccurate Passing at times

The Ugly:   The Pass Rush, 550 yards plus of offense given up, 30 or so first downs by SU 

 

Sidenote:  We've played Syracuse more than just about everybody in 20 years of football.  In 10 games, we are 8-2 lifetime against the Orange, and I believe :Undefeated in the Carrier Dome.  Great job boys, it wasn't the prettiest game but we'll take it!

No Injury's that I saw, so you have to add that under the "Good"

I didn't think the pass rush was so bad. There weren't more than a handful of passes that were true dropback pocket throws. Most were either just over the line or behind the line.  Not a lot that the pass rush can do in that case. Pass defenders need to tighten up rather than be in soft zone. 

The Syracuse drives were really driving me crazy. So many plays that went for 2 or 3 yards on every play then get first down by half a yard. They went for it on 4th 5 times. Some teams don't try 4th down 5 times all year.

No Bruce Hector or Mike Love had a big impact in a game like this. Hope to see them healthy vs FSU.

Overall I'm really impressed with the resilience. Just keep winning!

More good - In game adjustments. Augie Sanchez, according to the paper, getting on the D's butts for not playing hard enough. The look on CSK's face when QF came off the field on one of his way-off-the-mark passes.

More bad - Not simply lighting up the ball carrier when there's an opportunity.

Deadrin Senat. Yes they got gashed up the middle early but Senat played a ton more than usual without Hector.

More good...Dillion had a nice game he will be a huge weapon with time. 

Bad..tackling was not crisp, missed tackles.

Good: Whatever adjustments the team made at the end of the 1st Qtr

Bad: Poor tackling resulting in manageable 3rd downs or giving up 3rd and long downs

Ugly: Soft coverage from the secondary, allowing over 350 yards passing (whether by design or not)
