Louk's Closer Look: Week 3

September 17, 2016

By JIM LOUK

Voice of the Bulls

SYRACUSE, N.Y., SEPT. 17, 2016 - This is going to be one up-tempo football game.

Bulls fans know how fast the USF offense goes, and those who had a chance to watch the Syracuse-Louisville game know how much the Orange offensive philosophy has changed.

Whatever happens Saturday, it’s going to happen in a hurry.

New head coach Dino Babers will bring a much different looking Syracuse team to the Carrier Dome to play the Bulls this weekend.  The Orange is 1-1, beating Colgate in week 1 before losing to Louisville.

A few bits of information for our first road game of 2016:

- A win today would give the Bulls their first 3-0 start since 2011.

- The Bulls' previous visits to the Carrier Dome came in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011.  The Bulls won all four.

- On the Bulls' first visit to Syracuse on Nov. 12, 2005, Andre Hall ran for 222 yards and passed Rafael Williams for USF’s all-time rushing lead.  Marlon Mack enters this game 251 yards from Hall’s total.

- Rodney Adams is currently ninth all-time at USF with 1,246 receiving yards.  He needs 61 yards to move past DeAndrew Rubin into eighth place.

- Through two games, Syracuse is averaging 365 yards passing per outing. That ranks 10th in the nation.

- Syracuse is 15-32 all-time against the state of Florida, and 2-7 against the Bulls.

- Indicative of the changes in Syracuse’s offense, the Orange had two wide receivers with 10 or more receptions in their opening game against Colgate.  That had never happened before in the history of Syracuse football.

The game will be aired on ESPN3. Radio is AM-820 in Tampa, with affiliates AM-880 in Miami, AM-1080 in Orlando, FM-99.9 in Brooksville, and FM-107.9 in Jacksonville.  We’re also on the Tune In app and on GoUSFBulls.com.

Tickets are getting scarce for the next game; at home vs. Florida State on Sept. 24 at noon.  Make sure you get yours soon.

GO BULLS!
